Steve HarveyThe lights were dimmed low and the place went wild. No one could contain themselves as one of the Kings of Comedy took the stage. The music played and the MC introduced the genius comical mind of Steve Harvey. The Venue at The Horseshoe Casino was near chaos levels to catch a peek at the phenomenal comedian.

Until most recently recognized in a nationally syndicated radio program Steve Harvey has best been known for his stand-up comedy bit. His ability to move an audience through intelligent adventure telling is both clever and impressive from the beginning to the end.

On the eve of his fifty-third birthday, looking like a million bucks, Steve Harvey entertained a sold out auditorium in side splitting fashion. He spoke about a lot of topics that most comedians do, but this was done in a very special way. It was absolutely awesome from beginning to end.

As he opened the show he stated loud and clear that he was a Christian. He said the topics of conversation would not be like the stuff from his radio program. On the radio he has sponsors and censorship to deal with. “Aint none of them here tonight. As I said I’m a Christian…., but I can’t stop cussing. I tried. I’m just not that good.”

His comical bit then progressed when he promised the crowd to get their monies worth out of the show. He continued discussing topics of his family, friends, sharing a bathroom, his mama’s funeral, his brother’s drinking troubles, sex, women and heffers.

The topic of fat woman came up several times within the evening; He discussed the Atlanta Women firefighter’s calendar. They asked him to help promote the calendar on his radio show and all proceeds went to help a charitable cause. He had to decline the offer because he helps so many charities already and none of the women belonged on that calendar anyway. As he described a woman in a halter top, her back looked like the dough when you “open a can of biscuits.” She just didn’t belong in the calendar. Because of his comments on his radio show about the calendar he ended up on the bad side of an obese woman’s group. Obviously he is not the first comedian to say something to offend a certain demographic group.

A lady in the crowd paid her respects by yelling out in a disruptive manner, “I love you Steve.” Harvey replied telling her, “Ma’am, you’re drunk. The people with you are pretending that they don’t know you. They are telling you to shush.” He then went into a great bit about drunken people, making everyone aware that he doesn’t drink.

The best bit of the evening started out apologizing to the men of the audience for what he was about to do, but that he had to go there. “All you women is crazy,” he starts out and gives several examples as why. As he begins his argument as to why women are crazy a lady got up to walk out for a minute and

Steve made fun of the lady as she headed for the door. Toward the end of the argument about why women are crazy, she came back. He continued to give her hell all the way back to her seat and gave his condolences to the man that was with her. No one was safe from his friendly banter if you stuck out like a sore thumb.

The comical bit ran for a good length, but really wasn’t long enough. The show was so enjoyable that no one wanted it to end. Steve was so hysterical that he made the time fly by so fast that before you knew it, he was leaving the stage.

Steve Harvey has been entertaining crowds for over twenty-five years. He has been making peoples sides hurt from laughter in his clever style that is unmatched by most comedians. His show at The Venue inside the Horseshoe Casino was no exception. It was pure comical intelligence and a great pleasure to see him. Celebrating the birthday of this wonderful comedian was a great honor.

Happy Birthday, Steve Harvey.
