Wild Card Weekend Recap by Rainey Featured

So, I didn't get a chance to update on the very last week, you know the one where the BEARS went into hibernation for the winter. I actually had a vacation and I didn't do a thing but chill.  Now that I am done licking my wounds from our elimination by none other than the cheese heads, I have finished the the update for the Wild Card Weekend.  I am sure that you all know who is in and who is out.

GAME 1: SATURDAY 12/4/2014:
KANSAS CITY CHIEFS VS. INDIANAPOLIS COLTS

OMG, is the first thing I want to say.  If you didn't see the game, you will understand after reading this update.  Good game even though I did not expect Indy to win it, 45-44.  K.C., you deserve this loss. You had Indy down and out and you started playing NOT to lose and that's exactly what you did. This was K.C. all the way or it looked like it after the 1st half. Indy went into the locker room facing a 31-10 deficit. The Chiefs went into the locker room thinking, "we got this."  Then the Colts said we ain't going out like this and they proceeded to make one of the biggest comebacks in the NFL post-season history.  The Chiefs, they fell apart, their defense was terrible to say the least.  After 3 Qtrs, the Chiefs were still in command with a 41-31 lead and they threw it away.  You knew it was over for the Chiefs when Luck recovered a fumble and ran the measly 5 yards for a TD.  The icing on the cake, a 64yd TD pass to T.Y. Hilton to bring it home and send the Chiefs packing.  To add insult to injury, Kansas City lost 3 or 4 key players including Jamaal Charles.  Come on down and sit with Chicago and watch the next round K.C.  Luck threw for 443yds and 4 TD's.  Donald Brown added 11 carries for 55yds & 1 TD.  The man of the day, T.Y. Hilton had 13 receptions for 224yds & 1 TD. He worked hard for his money. Alex Smith threw for 378yds & 4 TD's. Knile Davis had 18 carries for 67yds & 1 TD. Dwayne Bowe finished with 8 receptions for 150yds & 1 TD.

GAME 2: SATURDAY 12/4/2014:

NEW ORLEANS SAINTS VS. PHILADELPHIA EAGLES

This game was not as entertaining as the Chiefs & Colts game.  The one thing I noticed immediately is that this was either teams game. No one was really playing over the top. The Saints won the game, 26-24.  New Orleans had had 7 penalties for 85yds, that's almost 100yds, that's a lot of yards to give up. Philly only had 4 penalties which only cost them 38yds, BIG difference there.  I think the biggest key for the Saints was time of possession, they had the ball for 34:53 while the Eagles had it for 25:07, you can do some damage with an extra 10 minutes give or take a few seconds. Philly had this game up until the very end. They were just down 23-17 when Nick Foles threw a 3yd pass to Zach Ertz with 4:54 left, that put them up 24-23.  As you know, 4:54 is a lot of time in the NFL. The Eagles held their ground to but the Saints keep pushing and got into FG range. It came down to the wire and what clinched it for the Saints was the 32yd FG by Shayne Graham with 00:00 left on the clock and just like that, the Eagles season was over. That had to be a hard pill to swallow for the Eagles. Drew Brees threw for 250yds & 1 TD. Mark Ingram had 11 carries for 97yds.  Nick Foles threw for 195yds & 2 TD's. LeSean McCoy didn't light up the field as he had done a game or two before. He had 21 carries for 77yds & 1 TD. Riley Cooper had 6 receptions for 68yds & 1 TD.

GAME 3: SUNDAY 12/5/2014:

SAN FRANCISCO 49'ERS VS. GREEN BAY PACKERS

I am not going to waste my keystrokes and say that I am happy that the Packers lost, even though for a while, I thought they were going to win it. But they couldn't squeeze by the 49'ers and went home on a 23-20 loss. Man, looking back on the scoring for each quarter, GB didn't score any points at all in the 1st Qtr. They were only behind 13-10 by halftime. The 49'ers did not score in the 3rd Qtr but neither did the Packers. They both scored 10pts each in the 4th Qtr. The 3pt difference at halftime is what eventually wind up beating the Packers. You see no tears over here my friends. I mean they were neck & neck, 4 sacks for SF while GB had 3, time of possession was only a difference of what, 30 seconds. That stinking 3 pts did them in. YEAHHHHHHHH.  Come on to Chicago GB and have some pizza and watch the next round, we are warming up a seat just for you. Aaron Rodgers hit the grass so much in this game, I thought he was a cow grazing in the pasture. Kap threw for 227yds & 1 TD and he even added 7 carries for 98yds for good measure. Crabtree did his thing with 8 receptions for 125yds.  Rodgers threw for 177yds & 1 TD. Lacy had 21 carries for 81yds but couldn't by a TD. J. Nelson had 7 receptions for 62yds & 1 TD. See you next year GB. Smoochesssssss....

GAME 4: SUNDAY 12/5/2014:

SAN DIEGO CHARGERS VS. CINCINNATI BENGALS

We know for sure by now what Chargers team showed up for this game. Surprised me. The Charges won this won fairly easy 27-10, I expected more of a fight out of the Bengals.  Plus again, the game was ok to watch, but it was football none the less. The Bengals showed no signs of life in this game. They scored 10pts in the 2nd Qtr and that was it. I didn't watch all of it, it didn't hold my interest at all. The main point is that San Diego moved ahead and the Bengals were sent home with their tails between their legs. Phil rivers threw for 128yds & 1 TD. Ronnie Brown had 8 carries for 77yds & 1 TD. One of his carries was for 58yds for that TD. Ladarius Green had a lowly 3 receptions for 34yds but had a TD to show for it. A. Dalton threw for 334yds & 1 TD. River put in half the yards and won this one. Jones had 8 receptions for 130yds.

Well, that's it for the Wild Card Weekend folks.  Sorry I missed the very last update but I enjoyed my vacation.
