Sexy, Sassy and Classy!

After we had seen Louie’s fantastic show and hung out with him, the Australian dancers from “Thunder” started slipping in to get ready for their show and Louie, whom I had just commiserated with over love woes kindly invited us to stay and check them out. I’m sooo glad he did! If there is one special show in Vegas to help a gal cheer up fast after a failed romance – this is it! I normally think twice about seeing anything that might be construed as sexist, it makes me uncomfortable to see any fine dancers doing topless nudity no matter how tastefully the show is presented, but “Thunder from Down Under” is a special production with a sense of fun and romance unique to the genre.

First of all these dancers, as funny MC, Marcus Deegan, points out, are all “straight” and although they do remove their shirts there really is no nudity or vulgarity to speak of.

Instead, the dancers play off their stunning good looks and a classic variety of romantic heroes like the lonesome cowboy, or the hot young construction worker to get a huge response of gasps and laughter from the mostly female crowd, which ranges in age from 21 to 65 plus.  The reason I liked that the dancers are all heterosexual is because women know these things, we can sense with our “gay–dar” when a gay man is mimicking sexual attraction and it is about as sexually appealing as eating the fake sushi on display in a Japanese restaurant window.

Another reason I loved this show is because even with the tables turned and men displayed as sexual objects, women respond to the way the “Thunder” dancers incorporate humor and romance with joyful anticipation and good natured admiration, never with the demeaning, exploitative reaction that most female dancers who strip for a living have to endure nightly. The whole showroom was filled with screams of delight (mine too) and peals of giggly, girlish laughter for the entire show, which was adorable to watch. The clean quality of the show really makes you feel like a high school girl again, not a jaded lecher. An example of the fun they have with the show is a fake orgasm contest, which was won the night I saw it by a woman in her sixties and was just hysterical.

“Thunder from Down Under” is an empowering show for women and men of all ages because it reminds you of the knee melting power of just a sexy “look” or properly timed hip thrust, it reminds women that they have a need to see men’s bodies and be made love to -just like men do - but not in pornographic way- in a highly romantic and sensitively masculine way, that truly turns them on.

I highly recommend this all male revue to women and couples who are looking for a Vegas show “pick me up” that won’t leave them feeling like either “squares” or perverts afterwards. Instead you leave feeling like there are still real men out there who know what a real lady likes and can deliver it with gusto! “Thunder from Down Under” gets two thumbs up, four stars, and an appreciative pat on the ass from this very happy lady reviewer!
