OMG, the end of the season is almost here, I don't know if I can deal with that. I love sports, but FOOTBALL is my favorite. So here we go, we pretty much know at this point people whose in and whose out.
MNF: 12/2/2013: NEW ORLEANS SAINTS VS. SEATTLE SEAHAWKS
Well, I am hear to tell you, I have a whole new outlook on short men. Never had a bad outlook on them to begin with, but after watching Russell Wilson take the Saints apart, I was just in awe.
Two of the hottest
teams clashed on this MNF.
The Seahawks jump out in the lead early with a 17-0 1st Qtr lead. That was mind boggling enough, but the Seahawks would not stop there. I just sat there staring at the TV saying, what the hell is wrong with Drew Brees, he wasn't playing like himself. It's was a combination of things and the Seahawks was the main combination. At half time, just like that, the SH were up 27-7. I was like, OK, the Saints are going to turn it up. But the home crowd was not having any of that. They nearly tore the walls down.
Scoreboard wise, the 2nd half was pretty quiet and the scoring that did happen didn't help the Saints. The only score in the 2nd half would put the Seahawks up 34-7 and that's how it ended. I have not seen the Saints clueless in a game this season as they were in this game. Rusell Wilson could do no wrong. I guess big things really does come in small packages. Rusell Wilson threw for 310 yds & 3 Td;s and added a game high 47 yds on eight carries. Zacg Miller had a 86 yd TD & Doug Baldwin had a 77yd TD. This is the killer, Brees finished with 147yds, 1 TD & a fumble. The run game didn't fare much better, with the team combining for a total of 44 rushing yards. That's all I'm going to say about that.
TNF: 12/5/2013: JACKSONVILLE JAGUARS VS. HOUSTON TEXANS
When it rains it pours and I am sure that is what the Texans thought after losing to the Jaguars, 27-20. I know the Texans said, OK, we are going to win this one, but I am sure the other 4 teams that lost to the Jaguars said the same thing. It was their 3rd straight win giving them the longest winning streak in the AFC. The Jaguars have gone from the worst team in the
NFL to the hottest team in the AFC and they are enjoying it. Maybe their kids won't have to get their dads a "how to play football dvd" for Christmas after all. Houston, OMG, 2-11, what in the hades is going on? This could lead the franchise to fire coach Gary Kubiak. Schaub was sacked 2 times to end the games. Jacksonville players ran onto the field to celebrate their Superbowl win. OK, it wasn't the SB but I am sure it felt like it to them. Schaub, who replaced Case Keenum threw for 198yds, 1TD and an interception. Andre Johnson had 13 receptions for 154 yds. Henne threw for 117yds & 2 TD's. Jones-Drew had 14 carries for 103yds. The JJ are enjoying a modest turnaround after starting off the season 0-8.
*REMEMBER MNF & TNF GAMES ARE ALWAYS A WEEK BEHIND. THOSE TEAMS THAT PLAY EACH MONDAY & THURSDAY, THEIR TEAMS STANDING MAY BE OFF A GAME UNTIL THE NEXT WEEKS UPDATE. ALL GAMES WILL BE RECAPPED FOR WEEK 16 UPDATE, INCLUDING THE MNF & TNF AFTER THAT LAST SUNDAY SO THAT ALL GAMES, WINS & LOSSES WILL BE UP TO DATE*
NFC NORTH:
Detroit Lions: 7-6:
Man, it seems like nobody in the division is stepping up to take a firm lead. One team loses, another one wins, etc, the old one, two shuffle. The Lions did their rumba on the field Sunday, only to be clipped by the Eagles, 34-20. I was pulling for the Eagles of course and they did me proud. Thank you, thank you, thank you. Foles threw for 179yds & 1 TD. McCoy added 29 carries for 217yds & 2 TD's, a franchise record, well done son. Stafford threw for 151yds & 0 TD's. Hint, hint, the Lions are not in 1st place by themselves, I'm just saying.
Chicago Bears: 6-6:
DA BEARS had a bye this week. They play the Dallas Cowboys on MNF, 12/9/13 @ 7:40pm. The BEARS really need this one, will they pull it off? Even though I am sure you know by now, this game will be recapped in WEEK 15 update.
Green Bay Packers: 6-6:
Beat the Falcons 22-21, finally, life has new meaning to me, there's beauty up above and things you never take notice of, wake up and suddenly, you have finally won a game. Yes, the Cheese heads finally got their 1st win since Rodgers has been gone. The won by only 1, but that don't matter, a WIN is a WIN! Flynn for GB threw for 258yds & 1 TD, Lacy added 20 carries for 65yds & 1 TD. Jordy Nelson brought up the end with 4 receptions for 85yds. Matt Ryan threw for 206yds & 2 TD's. Jackson contributed 15 carries for 71yds & white added 8 receptions for 74yds. Update: Rodgers will NOT play this Sunday. Can they pull 2 wins together?
Minnesota Vikings: 3-9:
They was going for their 4th win against the Ravens, but it was not to be. They lost that battle by 3, 29-26. Neither team did any major scoring through the 1st 3 Qtrs. Baltimore scored 7 pts in the 1st half while the Vikings only scored 3. In the 3rd Qtr, the Vikings put another 3 on the board making the score 6 to 7, Ravens. The Game went on to outscore the Vikings 22-20 in the 4th, thus giving them the 3pt win, that's it, that's all. I haven't seen the Vikings do this bad since, huhhhh, I can't remember, but it's bad. Time keeps on slipping, into the future. Flacco threw for 245yds & 3 TD's. Brown added 7 receptions for 92yds & 1 TD. Cassel threw for 265yds & 2 TD's while Gerhart had 15 carries for 89yds & 1 TD. Patterson brought it in with 5 receptions for 141yds & 1 TD.
NFC EAST:
Philadelphia Eagles: 8-5:
Read about this "thank you Eagles" win over the Lions, 34-20 in that games recap.
Dallas Cowboys: 7-5:
The Cowboys look to up their number in the win column against DA BEARS on MNF, 12/9/13. Again, even though you know the outcome, it will be recapped in WEEK 15. I'm just saying, I am happy with the outcome.
New York Giants: 5-8:
Try as they may, they came out losers again. This time against the Chargers, 37-14. I should have said it 2 weeks ago, but they are pretty much done, Turkey day is over and there are still a few flapping around. The Giants started off bad and it only got worse. While the Chargers scored 24 pts in the 1st half, the Giants had nada, nothing, zilch. They dug themselves into this 24-0 hole and could not get out. While the Chargers kept on packing on the pts, 13 more to be exact in the 2nd half. The Giants did score 14pts in the 2nd half, but it was too little too late, the cement had already been poured in the hole and they were left there. Rivers threw for 249yds & 3 TD's, Matthews added 29c carries for 103yds & 1 TD and Allen brought it home with 3 receptions for 59yds & 2 TD's. Lil Manning threw for 259yds & 1TD, while Brown pitched in with 16 carries for 81yds. Nicks gave it the old college try with 5 receptions for 135yds. They are not carrying the same by themselves, the Jets ain't raising no sand for NY either.
Washington Redskins: 3-10:
They were beat down to a pulp, 45-10 by the Chiefs. Ironic, the Redskins are whipped by the Chiefs. I guess Washington is saying when it rains it pours. To add to the loss, RGIII has been deactivated. Some may be happy about that and some may not be, just spreading the news here people. RGIII threw for 164yds & 1 TD, starting to have them stats like his bud Kap. SMH. That's it for Washington, no other stats worth mentioning. Smith threw for 137yds & 2 TD's and still won. Charles chimed in with 19 carries for 150yds rushing & 1 TD. Bowe said, let me get some of that and added 4 receptions for 70yds & 1 TD. I see a lot of feathers flying around in the Redskins stadium.
NFC SOUTH:
New Orleans Saints: 10-3:
I don't know what the Panthers thought, but ain't no way the Saint's was going to lose this one after their humiliating loss on MNF, 12/2/13 to the Seahawks, 34-7. Brees wasn't caught sleeping on that NyQuil for this game. So the Panthers had to step up and take this beat down of 31-13 for the team. Drew threw for 313yds & 4 TD's, Marques Colston had 9 receptions for 125yds & 2 of those TD's. J. Graham gladly gobbled up the other 2. Newton threw for 160yds & 1 TD while smith had 6 receptions for 49yds & 1 TD. With this win, the Saints took sole possession of 1st place, but how long is it gonna last??
Carolina Panthers: 9-4:
The win streak was pulled to a halt by the Saints, 31-13. Read about it directly above in the Saints game recap. Did anybody else see some of the air defleat out of Newton's head. He was on cloud 9 for a minute. Will he get back there against the N.Y. Jets Sunday, it's the Jets, of course he will or he should anyway.
Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 4-9:
The Buccaneers is not playing with ya'll, the are going to win their last 3 games, I think, lol. But they are certainly intent on not losing anymore. They beat the Bills, 27-6. The Buccaneers was out the gate running and by the end of the 1st half it was the Bucs 24 to the Bills 3. The Bills added one more FG in the 3rd Qtr, but maybe they should have saved that for another game. Glennon threw for 90yds & 2 TD's, Rainey added 22 carries for 127yds & 1 TD and Jackson tied up any loose ends with 3 receptions for 70yds & 1 TD. Manuela threw for 184yds. That's all folks..........
Atlanta Falcons: 3-10:
Read about the Falcons predicted fall to the Packers, 22-21 in that games recap. Do you hear the music, "hit the road jack and don't you come back no more."
NFC WEST:
X-Seattle Seahawks: 11-2:
Mannnnn, I was pulling for Seattle but they let the 49'ers take em down to the mines and beat em up 19-17. Kap can't touch Russell but apparently he could this particular night. The 49'ers had a 2 pt lead going into the half, 16-14. Neither team scored in the 3rd Qtr. Each team scored 3 pts in the 2nd half. The 1st Qtr was the demise for the Seahawks when they were outscored 6-0. Russell Wilson threw for 199yds & 1 TD. Lynch added 20 carries to the party for 72yds & 1 TD. Luke Wilson had 3 receptions for 70yds & 1TD. C. Kap threw for 175yds & 1 TD. Gore added 17 carries for 110yds & Boldin brought it home with 6 receptions for 93yds. The Seahawks have clinched a playoff berth.
San Francisco 49'ers: 9-4:
They did beat the Seahawks 19-17 this round but the Seahawks said so, we clinched our playoff spot. Read the Seahawks game recap for details.
Arizona Cardinals: 8-5:
The Cardinals just pushed the Rams further down the division ladder with this 30-10 win. St. Louis didn't put up much of a fight either according to the stats. At the end of the 1st half Arizona was up 14-3. In the 2nd half it was more of the same. Arizona scored another 16 pts while the Rams could only get 7 more by the Cardinals. Carlson Palmer threw for 269yd & 1 TD. Ellington had 11 carries for 46yds & 1 TD. Fitzgerald had 12 receptions for 96yds & 1 TD. Clemens threw for 181yds. That's it for this game.
St. Louis Rams: 5-8:
They are gone hiking as I write this update. Read about their loss to their neighbors, the Arizona Cardinals in the Cardinals game recap above.
AFC NORTH:
Cincinnati Bengals: 9-4:
The Bengals only added more cement to the foundation in this division with their 42-28 win over the Colts. The Colts lost this game in the 1st half, going into half time 14-0. They keep digging themselves into these craters in the beginning and can't get out. The fact that both teams scored 14pts each in the 3rd & 4th Qtrs means nothing when you are already 14pts in the hole. The same old story with the Colts. They are doing something right though, the Colts clinched their division. A. Dalton threw for 275yds & 3 TD's while Bernard had 12 carries for 99yds. Green had 6 receptions for 72yds & 1 TD. Luck threw for 326yds & 4 TD's. How do you have 4 TD's and lose??? Luck did add 2 carries for 32 rushing yds. Rogers had 6 receptions for 107yds & 2 TD's.
Baltimore Ravens: 7-6:
Another bites the dust against the Ravens. Minnesota dropped the ball on this one, 29-26. Read about this game in the Vikings game recap. This was the Ravens first snow game in their Baltimore history.
Pittsburgh Steelers: 5-8:
The Steelers tried to no avail to win this one but lost to the Dolphins, 34-28. Maybe the coach should have "stepped" in. It seems as if Pittsburgh can't put 2-3 wins together at one time. One win here, 2 losses there is not a good combination at all. It seems, by score, it was a fixable game for the Steelers after the 1st half. The Dolphins were only leading 10-7. Maybe the Steelers quit early. It's not like they couldn't pull it out. The Dolphins only outscored them 24-21 in the second half and that was that. Big Ben threw for 349yds & 3 TD's, he may have wanted to rethink this and saved those TD's for the next game. Brown added 5 receptions for 138yds & 1 TD. Tannehill threw for 200yds & 3 TD's while Thomas had 16 carries for 105yds & 1 TD. Clay finished with 7 receptions for 97yds & 2 TDs.
Cleveland Browns: 4-9:
In last place but fought a good battle against the Patriots. But a loss is a loss and they went home 27-26 losers. Read about it in New England's game recap.
AFC EAST:
New England Patriots: 10-3:
LMAO, the Pats know they love to play it close to the edge. They stole this win over the Cleveland Browns, 27-26.
Almost everything had to go right for Brady & his boys to pull off this comeback. Checking out the ESPN write up, everything did. Brady threw 2 TD passes & the Brown made 2 critical penalties in the final 61 seconds. The cost, Rob Gronowski out with a torn ACL in his right knee in the 3rd Qtr. The Patriots was down, 19-3 when Jason Campbell hit Josh Gordon for an 80-yard TD late in the 3rd Qtr. Then A 4-yd pass to Jordan Cameron with 2:39 left in the GAME, the GAME people, not the 3rd Qtr, made it 26-14. That's when Brady made the impressive comeback to win the game. Who does that? I am not a NE fan, but my nick name for Brady is cool hand luke, you don't see any emotions on his face other than, just let me get that ball one more time. The Browns were leading at the half, 6-0. Then the added 13 more pts in the 3rd while the Pats only added 11. The killer Qtr was the 4th, Brady did the do and the Pats outscored the Brown 16-7 and stole the win. I just love to see some damn good football and that was one of those games. Brady threw for 418yds & 2 TD's. Vereen had 12 receptions for 153yds. Campbell threw for 391yds & 3 TD's. Gordon had 7 receptions for 151 yds & 1 TD. Man, I know the Browns were shaking their heads saying, "what the hell just happened"?
Miami Dolphins: 7-6:
They won this one against the Steelers, 34-28.Read the details in the Steelers game recap.
New York Jets: 6-7:
They beat the Raiders, 37-27. I don't know much at all about what happened in this game. Never been a New York fan, let alone a Jets fan. I do have friends in NY, but I am never in a NY state of mind. So I will just go with the stats on this one. Oh, Geno Smith did have a 8yd TD run. G. Smith threw for 219yds & 1 TD. Ivory had 18 carries for 76yds & 1 TD. McGloin threw for 245yds & 2 TD's. Reece had 19 carries for 123yds & 1 TD. Streater added 7 receptions for 130yds & 1 TD.
Buffalo Bills: 4-9:
I know you have read about their loss to a team on equal ground in the standings, Tampa Bay. Read about the 27-6 loss in the TB game recap.
AFC SOUTH:
Z-Indianapolis Colts: 8-5:
The clinched their division but loss this game to the Bengals, 42-28. Read about that in the Bengals game recap.
Tennessee Titans: 5-8:

Jacksonville Jaguars: 4-9:
The Jaguars celebrated a Superbowl type win over the Texans, 27-20. Read about that in the TNF game recap.
Houston Texans: 2-11:
They played and lost on TNF against the Jacksonville Jaguars, 27-20. Fired Coach Kubiak, like we didn't see that coming. He thanked the fans with an ad in the Houston Chronicle. Now they are going to visit the Colts to see what they can do on Sunday. Who are they going to blame then?
AFC WEST:
X-Denver Broncos: 11-2:
The Broncos released the hounds on the Tennessee Titans and after they released their grip, the score said it all, 51-28. I am not going to even sit up here and say what the Titans should have done differently, 51-28 is a whole lot of what you could have done, so we will leave that be. Ok a little bit of something. The Titans did go into halftime with the lead 21-20 and that's all. Wait, time of possession for the Broncos 39:20, Titans, 20:40. Enough said about that. Danggg, just saw that Denver had 39 1st downs to the Titans 15, there is the explanation right there people. Wait there's more, Denver 551 total net yards, Titans, 254. I am done for real, now on to the stats. Manning threw for 397yds & 4 TD's. Mareno added 14 carries for 78yds & 1 TD while Decker added a little something with 8 receptions for 117yds & 1 TD. Fitzpatrick threw for 172yds & 1 TD. Greene had 9 carries for 46yds & 2 TD's. Hunter had 4 receptions for 114yds & 1 TD. Denver did clinch a playoff spot.
Kansas City Chiefs: 10-3:
OUCH, that's all you could hear while the Chiefs smacked the Redskins around to the tune of 45-10. Read about that in the Redskins game recap.
San Diego Chargers: 6-7
The Chargers won this game with no questions left to be asked with a 37-14 win over the NY Giants. Read all details in the Giants game recap.
